Smart Table

A product concept that rethinks the world's most familiar workplace. Projection, camera, sensors and AI turn the table into an interactive surface — without taking away its calm.

About the project

Familiar for Centuries. Now Clearer Than Ever.

The table has always been there: it gathers people, focuses conversations and carries work, food and ideas. The Smart Table doesn't change that — it only adds to it. Quietly, precisely and exactly when it helps.

A projector with camera visualises content directly on the tabletop while capturing every interaction. AI object recognition evaluates movement and context in real time, additional sensors respond to touch, proximity and physical markers, and voice control enables context-sensitive navigation.

The sensor surface is integrated directly into the robust tabletop — impact-resistant and usable as a whiteboard. The modular frame folds, is transportable and adapts to different scenarios.

The idea and concept for the Smart Table came from JSTec: founder Jörg Siekmann was the mind behind the project and co-developed it from the very first idea.

Project Goal

Analogue and Digital at One Table

The goal was a workplace where information appears exactly where it is needed — no mouse, no screen barrier. Projections adapt to physical objects on the table, and real items are enriched digitally.

Several people work simultaneously and in real time, and content can be shared seamlessly from smartphones and tablets. As an open platform, the Smart Table is ready for new content, AI logic and application scenarios.

Outcome

Use Cases in Pictures

One table, many scenarios: in the workshop a team analyses an assembly together, in the classroom circuits come to life, in the office decisions take shape around a shared model.
